Open Learner Patchbook George Williams Last August, Lee wrote about the Open Faculty Patchbook, "a community patchwork of 'chapters' … about pedagogy for teaching & learning in college." More recently, in her post about laptop bans, Lee referenced the Open Learner Patchbook, so I thought I would take a look. Launched by Terry Greene (@greeneterry), The Open Learner Patchbook "About" page describes the site as a "space … to house the stories of how learners learn in higher ed." The intent is for each "patch" to address one learning skill essential for success in college. Among the 20 suggested topics to be covered are the following: Getting motivated, staying motivated, manufacturing motivation Managing time, tasks, work to be done Note-taking/ collecting notes Collaboration (in studying, group work, projects) Test preparation, test taking However, contributors are welcome to come up with their own topics. For example… Patch 3, by Sarah Glass, describes the possible pitfalls of being the generous, helpful student to others. Patch 5, by Eryn Brook (@ErynnBrook), addresses laptop bans in the classroom. Patch 7, by Mary, share tips on dealing with bullies. Patch 13, by Kate Long, provides some advice about coming out.
